QUICK DRY POLYURETHANE VARNISH 1L OAK SATIN
Product
Quick Dry Polyurethane Varnish
Type
Water-based polyurethane varnish, available in clear gloss, satin and matt and a range of colours in satin. Gives long lasting protection to interior and exterior wood, allowing the natural grain to show through.
Intended Use Outdoor and indoor joinery in both hard & softwood, doors, windows, garden furniture and
conservatories. May also be used as a sealer for concrete.
Special Features Low odour, non-yellowing, resists cracking, peeling and blistering. The clear varnish has very little effect on the colour of the timber onto which it is applied.
Resistant to boiling water.
Preparation
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of wax, grease and contaminants, smooth and sound. Fill large cracks, open joints and damaged areas with a high-quality flexible filler. Wash oily woods,
knots or resinous areas with white spirit.
Remove mould, lichens, algae & moss with brush, scraper & domestic bleach, then rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
Rustins Wood Dye may be
applied to bare wood prior to varnishing.
Application
Using a synthetic brush, apply liberally with a full brush finishing with the grain.
Externally the first coat may be diluted with water on hot days (up to 15%). Do not apply to hot surfaces or in strong
sunlight if possible or if rain is likely.
Coats
Apply 3 coats. Lightly sand after first coat if there is raising of the grain. Note: with every successive coat of coloured varnish the finish will become darker, but may then be overcoated with clear varnish to maintain a satisfactory shade whilst achieving the prerequisite total coating thickness.
Drying Time Touch dry 30 minutes.
Re-coating Time Approximately 2 hours depending on temperature & humidity.
Application Temp. Ideally 15-25°C. Do not apply below 10°C, or in high humidity or if rain is expected.
Coverage 12-15 square metres per litre per coat, depending on absorbency of surface.
Maintenance
If used outdoors: re-coat every 2 to 3 years depending upon the severity of exposure. Clean with a mild detergent solution and lightly sand to provide key.
Compatibility
May be applied over old existing coating if these are in good condition and rubbed down to provide a key. Old coatings in poor condition should be removed with Rustins Strypit Paint and
Varnish Stripper. If applying over wood preservatives test on a small area to ensure the varnish dries and adheres well.
Settlement STIR WELL BEFORE USE. May dry glossy if not adequately stirred.
